Message From The Athletic Director

They call me “COACH”. The most important meaning of the word goes all the way back to the 1500’s when a coach was a horse drawn carriage with a specific purpose: to transport a person of importance from where they were, to where they wanted, or needed, to be.

At Lakewood City Schools, our student-athletes are important.  We have seen where they are, and we know where they need to be.  Our “coaches” and athletic department will help to get them there!  It is our philosophy to help the young men and women in our programs become confident, hard-working, successful members of our community.  If you do not feel that way, this may not be the best place for you to coach.

As reflected by our Vision of a Lakewood Graduate, the Lakewood City Schools are educating for the whole child, from preschool through graduation.  Our Athletic Department follows the same philosophy.  Our coaches are dedicated to building programs in Lakewood that allow and encourage students to get involved, stay involved, and strive for excellence.

My role, as an Athletic Director, is to remove roadblocks.  I want to make sure that my coaches are provided with the tools, professional development, and support required for them to do their jobs.  Their success, or shortcomings, are not based solely on wins and losses.  As a society, we all know the importance of having positive leaders working with our youth.  My goal is to have the best possible people in these positions to guide our student athletes through their educational journeys to create positive learning experiences and to mold them into productive leaders in our society.

I am blessed to be in this position and I do not take this responsibility lightly.  My door is always open and I want to invite you all to attend as many events as possible.  We look forward to seeing you.  Go Rangers.
