Lakewood Varsity Rangers Trounce Randolph-Henry Varsity Statesmen

Lakewood Varsity Rangers easily dispatched Randolph-Henry Varsity Statesmen on Tuesday, 16-5.
Lakewood Varsity Rangers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Hart grounded out, and Legato walked, each scoring one run.
A play extended the Lakewood Varsity Rangers lead to 3-1 in the top of the second inning.
A single by Laidley extended the Lakewood Varsity Rangers lead to 5-1 in the top of the third inning.
Three more Lakewood Varsity Rangers runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-1. Jones hit a solo home run to right field, and Legato hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.
Lakewood Varsity Rangers scored eight runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Hart drew a walk, scoring one run, Showers drew a walk, scoring one run, a passed ball scored two runs, Russell doubled, scoring one run, and Dowell singled, scoring two runs.

Both teams were strong on the hill on Thursday, but Lakewood Varsity Rangers defeated Lincoln County Varsity Panthers 1-0. Verderber started the game for Lakewood Varsity Rangers and recorded 21 outs.
Verderber struck out 16 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking one.
Lakewood Varsity Rangers got on the board in the sixth inning after Schroeder hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
